Derek Lux is a singer, actor, puppeteer, award-winning puppet designer and builder, theatrical show creator, and headlining Las Vegas performer whose work spans stage, screen, and international entertainment.
He launched his career in entertainment performing for a combined six years in the world-renowned Beach Blanket Babylon, where he developed the stage presence, versatility, and audience connection that continue to define his work today.
Over the years, Derek has designed, built, and performed puppets for films, television, music videos, theatrical productions, and multiple Las Vegas resident shows. His work on Shrek The Musical earned him a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Honor Award, further establishing him as a standout creative voice in the world of puppetry and live theatrical design.
Derek was also the creator, director, and star of the Las Vegas resident production Wonderland, which ran for 18 months and showcased his unique ability to blend spectacle, storytelling, and visual imagination into an immersive live experience.
Through his production company, DLUX Puppets, Derek tours with original musical, multimedia stage adaptations featuring life-size puppetry, performing in theaters across the country. Most recently, he performed in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, continuing to bring large-scale theatrical work to audiences nationwide.
His expertise has also led to major leadership roles in entertainment. Derek served as Senior Advisor of Puppetry for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas and was Director of Puppetry Performance for Paw Patrol Live! Heroes Unite!. His wide-ranging skill set within the art form of puppetry has opened the door to remarkable creative collaborations, including advising, consulting, and working directly with David Copperfield.
As an actor, Derek has appeared in television, commercials, and independent films, and he is a longtime SAG-AFTRA member. His work across multiple mediums reflects a career defined by creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to captivating audiences in every setting.
Derek is also deeply committed to giving back, volunteering with Win-Win Charities and GiGi's Playhouse. He lives in Las Vegas with his wife Lauren and their twin sons, Dylan and Dexter, who frequently perform alongside him onstage - making creativity and performance a true family affair.
